Many people worship the child form of Lord Krishna in addition to worshipping deities at their home. Those are called Laddu Gopal. Laddu Gopal is worshipped and served as a small child. The service of Laddu Gopal has to do everything from the way a mother takes care of her young child from getting up in the morning to sleeping at night. It’s believed that worshipping Laddu Gopal can remove all the troubles of the house. The heart of a worshipper is dependent on the happiness of Laddu Gopal.
Krishna is known as the epitome of love. According to Shastras, Krishna is known as one of the most charming divine beings, who had the innate quality of attracting anyone who came in contact with him. Yet, keeping a Krishna idol at home is different from keeping idols of other Gods.
For devotees who keep Laddu Gopal at home need to follow some rituals and customs everyday to serve him properly. This process involves certain steps:
For the process you need:
– Holy water (Ganga Jal)
– Tulsi leaves
– Sandalwood paste (chandan)
– Scented oil
– Cotton towel
– Poshak for Bal Gopal
– Incense stick
– Pasad (Bhog)
Before starting the process with Laddu Gopal, one needs to wake up in the morning, take a bath, wear clean clothes and prepare prasad for the lord. To prepare a bath for Bal Gopal you need Ganga Jal, Tulsi leaf, sandalwood paste (chandan), scented oil, cotton ball or towel and clothes for the Lord.
The first step of the process is to wake your Bal Gopal just like you wake up your child. Give your lord a bath with Tulsi leaves dipped in Holy Water (Ganga Jal), apply chandan to his body and wash it with Ganga Jal. Tap dry him with a cotton ball or towel. Put some scented oil on him and a chandan tilak on his forehead.
Now, dress up your Laddu Gopal with a new and clean poshak. Adorn him with some jewelry and other ornaments like flute, peacock feather, etc.
After dressing, show him in the mirror.
Light the Lamp
Light a ghee lamp (Jyot) in front of the Lord along with some incense sticks before feeding him. Offer your prayings by chanting mantra:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare
Hare Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare
Offer your lord prasad that you prepared for the deity. Since milk is Krishna’s favourite, keep a bowl of milk along with other items. Do not forget to put Tulsi Leaves in every food item you prepare for your Laddu Gopal as he doesn’t accept any prasad without it.
Following this process, one needs to offer food in the afternoon i.e. lunch as well as in the evening.
At night, before you go to sleep, change your Laddu Gopal’s dress to night wear and make him sleep on his bed. The same procedure is to be followed everyday.
